As part of its key role in deepening democracy in Malawi, CMD- M uses its 2012 – 2015 Strategic Plan as a roadmap to address key issues including; strengthening of legal and administrative framework for political parties; enhancing the participation of women and youths; promotion of inter and intra-party democracy; strengthening the capacity of political parties to participate in free, fair and peaceful election among others.
In its work, CMD-M provides a platform for conflict resolution and fosters ties between political parties and the Malawi Electoral Commission. CMD has also carried out various researches aimed at empowering political parties with funding from EU, Malawi Government, UNDP, DFID, NIMD and others. Further, CMD-Malawi also works to provide a link with other Civil Society Organizations and relevant government ministries and departments. Through its regional exchange and study visit programs organised for political parties, CMD- Malawi has also benefited in learning best practices from other institutions in the African region.
